WHAT IS PEARL'S PRIVATE RESERVE?
Pearl's Private Reserve was named in recognition of Colorado's Pearl de Vere, known as Cripple Creek’s “soiled dove." Pearl de Vere operated the historic Old Homestead House brothel catering only to the most prosperous and wealthy men.
Described as slender and pretty, with flaming red hair, she died in 1897. She was the only known prostitute who was allowed burial in Mt. Pisgah cemetery.
The Old Homestead was built in 1896 and was the most elegant brothel in Colorado's Cripple Creek District during its heyday. The Old Homestead House museum opened in 1958 and has been a favorite ever since with thousands of visitors from around the world. If you are ever in the area, stop and visit!
